 Online Business Management Degree

Getting an online business management degree here at Antonelli College is a commendable decision, but it will require determination and hard work if you are to be successful. We have all experienced some form of classroom learning in school, but the truth is that online education is something totally different. To help you maximize your business management course, here are a few practical tips.

Motivation is important when enrolled in a business management degree program online

When studying for an online degree, you must realize that online learning works best for people who have the real interest to learn and are self-starters. All the discipline and motivation must come from you as the student. That is why the self-motivation and commitment need for succeeding in online studying is very attractive to future employers.

By getting an online degree in business management, you have already demonstrated your impressive drive to efficiently work independently without supervision. That alone will give you an excellent advantage over your peers.

Make the online business management degree part of your daily schedule

Set aside enough time for studying for your online business management degree just like you would when attending physical classes. You must have ample time where you sit down quietly and read through the course materials. This way you will be able to understand everything much more clearly.

Identify the time you are going to devote towards studying by determining if you work best in the morning or in the evening. Once you know which time is the most suitable, schedule your study time when you are performing at your best. Also factor in a break time where you can have healthy snacks to keep you focused.

Reward yourself when you achieve milestones in your online business management degree

Working on an online degree requires lots of personal discipline. As a result, you should always reward yourself each time you attain a study milestone. This will help to keep you motivated and continue going till you finish your online course.

The reward can be anything ranging from a simple gift of tasty chocolate for finishing a week’s worth of lessons or by going for a massage once you successfully finish an assignment. It is vital to take some time and reflect on your studies and what you have learnt and be happy about your progress.

In conclusion, earning an online degree in Business Management is a highly marketable course that you can sign up for here at Antonelli College. With the above tips, you will find studying much easier, and you will soon complete your course and get certified to join the working sector as a highly skilled individual.

The Pros and Cons of Gaining an Online Business Management Degree

Posted on

Online Business Management Degree Program

With the technology today gaining us the power to earn degrees online is amazing. There are countless colleges offering online degree programs, and the platforms continue to get better with time. There are of course pros and cons to everything, and earning a business management degree online is no exception.

Earn a Degree From Home

You have to added advantage not to have to leave your house or even get dressed if you don’t want to. As long as you meet project and assignment deadlines, you can do it at any time of the day or night. This becomes ideal if you are a parent or if you just graduated from high school and still sleep all day but want to earn a business management degree online.

More Cost Effective

Most online degree programs cost about the same as their conventional counterparts but doing some research into different college programs and their costs you can make an educated choice on what meets your budget. Gaining your degree online is more cost-effective simply because you save money on transportation costs, room and board costs and meal plan costs associated with traditional college.

On the Fast Track

By earning an online business management degree, it will provide a fast track to graduation. Online degree programs are more focused on specific skills and knowledge needs and are cutting out all the extraneous material. There is no need to focus mundane classes, only the ones you need to gain the degree.

No Hands on Experiences

Some subjects don’t fit into the mold of online degree programs, such as those that require hands-on training. The likes of nursing major would not be a good fit for an online degree program. A more traditional setting would be much more prudent.

Personal Responsibility

Working towards an online degree requires you to be extremely organized and personally responsible for yourself, your work and meeting deadlines. If you are not skilled at organization or need motivators to keep you focused, obtaining an online business management degree would not be a good fit for you.

Lack of Networking

With the lack of face to face contact you have with peers and professors while getting your degree online lends itself to not being an easy network building situation. With the program platforms improving with network video chat rooms and video conferencing, it has only gotten better for face to face connections. If you need to make strong connections with peers and your professors, a traditional campus life may be a better option for you.

Earning an online business management degree gains you freedom and flexibility but does not offer close friendship or hands-on experiences. The need to be focused and responsible may be too much for some while for others that is who they are. If you are going online for a degree do your homework and make good choices, after all, this is your life we are talking about.

How to Work from Home Doing Medical Billing and Coding

Posted on

With more Americans having medical insurance, coupled with the tendency of healthcare facilities switching to electronic medical record keeping, not only is there more of a demand for medical billing and coding professionals, but also it allows medical billers and coders to work remotely from their homes and set their own work schedules.

In order to find a career in medical billing and coding field, you will first want to enroll in a medical billing and coding training program to prepare you to pass your professional certification. One common requirement to enter a training program is that you have your high school degree or GED. Often medical billing and coding professionals earn an associate's degree from an accredited college. The areas of study typical in a medical billing and coding school might include: ICD9 and ICD10 (International Classification of Diseases), medical terminology and anatomy, medical billing software, medical documentation evaluation, government insurance programs, basic math, keyboard and computer skills, and other medical office administrative duties. Be sure to check out Antonelli College's medical billing and coding degree and diploma programs; they offer accredited medical billing and coding programs both at campus locations in Mississippi as well as online.

Upon finishing your program, you will want to get certified by the AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders). Usually the initial certification obtained is the CPC (Certified Professional Coder), which is the standard medical coding certificate. This certification will demonstrate to prospective employers that you are proficient in medical coding, coding procedures, and coding rules and regulations.

The next step for working from home as an as a medical billing/coding independent contractor is to get a business license from your state and possibly even from your county or city. Check with your state's website on business and commerce for more information on business licensing.

Next, you will need to market your medical coding and billing business. You can build yourself a website with a site builder for those with no website experience, such as Wix. It also is important to build up your web and social media profiles on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Yelp and countless others. Don't worry, most all of those are free and only require some time and effort on your part.

Search online for independent opportunities. You can find these on job sites, employment boards and online healthcare directories. Hunt for opportunities; they are out there!

Finally, don't forget to look within your local medical community for medical billing job opportunities. Reach out to local medical offices and area hospitals to request an interview or meeting. Even if an office has billers and coders in-house, why not offer to handle any overflow work they may experience during busy times?

A career in medical billing and coding is attractive to those seeking an allied health career with good future outlook. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), medical billing and coding jobs should be “very good” for billing and coding specialists. Their projected outlook states that there will be a 20% between 2008 and 2018 in medical billing and/or coding opportunities, which is significantly faster than the average for all other occupations.

If you're looking for a new career field with a promising future, now is a great time to look into a medical billing and coding career.

Antonelli College Announces Social Media Management Program

Antonelli College Announces Social Media Management Program
Becomes first known school to offer Associate of Applied Business – Social Media Management degree

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Antonelli College announces the addition of the Social Media Management program to their existing list of 17 academic offerings spanning four disciplines across five facilities.  The Mississippi campuses, located in Hattiesburg and Jackson, will be the first to host the program.  Classes will begin on May 10, 2011, but interested students may begin enrolling by contacting an Admissions Representative at (601) 583-4100.

Antonelli College received approval for the program from the Accrediting Commissions of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) at the end of March.  With the approval, the school will become the first known college or university in the United States to offer an accredited associate degree specifically focusing on social media management.

The program was designed to prepare students to navigate, and help to define, the rapidly changing world of social media as both a professional tool and personal communications channel.

“With many organizations adding social media marketing to their integrated marketing plan, we felt that there was a definite need to educate capable individuals with an ambition to pursue this field,” said Steve Bryant, Campus Director. “We are very excited about the possibilities that the Social Media Management program will offer our students and our community.”

“As we researched the trends in areas such as social media and inbound, outbound and mobile marketing, the need for this degree was clear,” said Jason Davis, Corporate Marketing.  “As a career college our mission is to provide a quality education to future members of the workforce and respond to the most in-demand fields.”

Per a 2010 Nielsen study, Americans spend 906 million hours on social networks and blogs per month – validating Davis’ statement that the need to manage and provide content for such networks is evident.

Yet, social media managers are responsible for more than releasing snippets of information via Twitter or updating a Facebook status.  The SMM program’s foundation is enriched with disciplines such as economics, marketing, public relations and entrepreneurship.   These elements resulted in the program residing in Antonelli College’s Business and Information Technology  department.  As social media success relies on engagement and two-way communication, coursework will also stress principles such as branding, culture, ethics and predicting future trends.

Students who enroll in the program full-time can expect to graduate in 21 months.  Upon completion, graduates may seek entry-level employment in various industries, with the most promising including healthcare, telecommunications, retail and automotive.  Should they choose to be self-employed, the field provides opportunities as independent consultants.
